The Commission of Inquiry has completely absolved Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa from any accusations of being involved in the massacre of the Marikana incident in August 2012. The Council for Injured and Arrested Persons originally blamed Ramaphosa for allegedly playing a role in the incident.
Both Ministers Nathi Mthethwa and Susan Shabangu were also cleared by the Commission. The Counsel for Injured and Arrested Persons accused Ministers Rhamaphosa and Mthethwa as the cause of the incident, while the Counsel wanted Minister Shabangu to be charged for corruption and perjury.
Meanwhile political party,The Economic Freedom Front (EFF) has vowed to not rest until Ramaphosa is put behind bars for his alleged role in the Marikana massacre.
“The Economic Freedom Fighters received the Marikana Commission Report as delivered by President Zuma with deep sadness, disappointment and shock,” the party said in a statement.
“We can guarantee all South Africans that the EFF will never rest until those responsible, particularly the political elite that presided over the police, including Cyril Ramaphosa, are prosecuted and sent to jail.”
