Northam Platinum has advised its shareholders that production at its Zondereinde mine has been interrupted since 2 April 2013, owing to rock driller operators refusing to drill while underground.

The company said that an estimated 120kg (3 900 oz) of metal in concentrate production has been lost, translating into revenue losses of approximately R46.2 million.

Northam Platinum noted that Zondereinde’s management team has constituted a consultative forum and is engaging with employee representatives in an attempt to resume operations as soon as possible.
