Platinum producer Impala Platinum (Implats) has appointed two new non-executive directors.

The company advised that the appointments of Peter Davey as an independent non-executive director will be with effect from 1 July 2013 and, while Albertinah Kekana‘s appointment will be in effect from 7 June 2013.

Davey is a mining engineer with considerable production experience in both the South African platinum and gold mining industries. He has 24 years of extensive experience in the finance industry, with specific emphasis in the field of equity research, and as an analyst, Implats noted.

Davey holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Mining Engineering Degree from the University of Wales, Cardiff and an M.B.A. from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. Davey will also serve as a member of the Risk Committee of the board with effect from 1 July 2013.

Kekana is the CEO of Royal Bafokeng Holdings, the investment vehicle of the Royal Bafokeng nation. She is a chartered accountant (SA) and holds an Advanced Management Programme Certificate from Harvard University.

Kekana has extensive investment banking, corporate finance and business leadership experience, and serves on a number of boards, including Vodacom and RMB Holdings.
