The impressive inaugural Bauma Africa exhibition at the Gallagher Convention Centre has finally kicked off, writes Vicky Sidler.

Bauma Africa 2013 features over 700 exhibitors from 38 countries and is expecting over 15 000 visitors of both local and international origin.

Mining is an important contributor to the South African economy, which is the reason trade shows such as Bauma Africa are so important, as they allow the latest advancements in the industry to be showcased. The event also presents opportunities for increased foreign investment from international companies visiting and exhibiting at the event,” says Elaine Crewe, CEO of MMI South Africa.

The outdoor exhibition, where all the machines are on display, is especially worth a visit, but be sure to wear comfortable shoes since there is over 60,000 m2 of exhibition space. The exhibition will run until 21 September and includes construction machinery, building material machines, mining machines and construction vehicles.
