The 2015 Mining Indaba Conference kicked off in Cape Town this morning with over 7000 delegates from around the world meeting to discuss the future of mineral exploration in Africa.
Former United Kingdom Prime Minister Tony Blair will deliver the keynote address this year and highlights include presentations by some of the leading companies operating in the sector.
The controversial Minerals and Petroleum Resources Development Act is also expected to be a key focus for South African miners following President Jacob Zuma’s decision to revert the act back to parliament.
Some of the issues to be discussed include the industry’s finances, social investment and progress in transformation. It is there where industry leaders are expected to give their input on the state of mining on the continent. Panels from the World Bank, Anglo American, Goldman Sachs International, universities and some of the biggest investment companies in the world will be held at the Indaba.
Inside Mining Editor Tony Stone will be tweeting live from the event for @Mining_news.
